We weren't quite ready to "be home", didn't really want to slab down I5.  A friend of a riding buddy was performing at the Nugget in Sparks - let's go to Reno for the night and then over Hwy 88.

As we checked in to the motel yesterday, we were talking the front desk staff and they'd asked where we were headed. We replied Reno via Susanville and they make a comment about a fire having closed the highway. It never sank in. So off we go.  We get to the Hat Creek area, we smell smoke, see smoke and then the burn. The fire started on Crater Peak, Northwest of Old Station, CA, and burned Northeast across Hwy 89.  We had lunch in Susanville and then exercised our wrist into Reno and LEO detection skills.
