Got a slow start today, check the tire pressures, and went to Walmart to get a new camera.  Wouldn't you know it, the one we liked was out of stock so we settled for number 2! Finally got on the road about a 11am.

I was expecting high desert and more "nothingness" but found quite an agricutural area between Cortez and about Northdale.  From Northdale to Moab was what I expected high desert and redrock canyons.  We stopped in Monticello for a late lunch and talked with several Harley couples from the Mid-West.  Then on to Moab. Got a motel room at the Best Western Canyonlands on the North side of town which was a little more expensive that I would have liked (room was very nice) but in keeping with our "drinking no riding" policy, it had easy walking to Eddie McStiffs for a great diner and a (well may be 2 or 3) tall cold one!

We checked in, unloaded the bikes, gased up, and headed for the Canyonlands National Park (detailed map).  We left Moab about 4pm and went to the Islands of the Sky district and rode out to the Grand View Point Overlook. Lots of  redrock canyons, mesas and plateaus and even better late afternoon long shadows and sunset to emphasize the terrain.
