We got up and got packed and had another great B&B breakfast. If we're back in Frisco, we'll stay here again.
We rode up Hwy 91 to Leadville. About 1/2 way there is a major reclaimation going on in the area which was heavily mined. A very large area being reclaimed. Great country between Leadville and Independance Pass. Met a '06 FJR out of Colorado Springs who was riding with a 'Wing. Down the "hill" into Aspen for something to drink and a snack and on to Carbondale for lunch at the Red Rock Diner on Hwy 133 just South of Hwy 82. The waitess keep the Diet "coke" coming. Great country
between there and Hotchkiss where we stopped for gas and refreshments.
We stopped at a number of overlooks overlooking the Curecanti National Recreation Area (detailed map). At one of the stops, we came across a flock of vultures perched on the walls of the canyon. We got to Blue Mesa Reservoir a couple of hours before sunset. The water very blue and I didn't expect to see that much water in Colorado in September. Rolled into Gunnison without reservations
and ended up at the Gunnison Inn. Our neighbors were bikers also, so had some good conversations the 2 mornings we were there. Had diner and breakfast at the Quarter Circle BBQ and Resturant. Diner was nothing special but they serve a big breakfast.
