Got up and cleaned the bikes - where did all them bugs come from!?!%*$!
Ate breakfast at the Quarter Circle Resturant and off we go. We stopped at the top of Monarch Pass at the ski lodge. Ran into a bunch of bikers and shared a lot of what to see and where to go and how do you like <your_fill_in_the_blank> bike. Off we go down the mountain to see what's on the other side of the mountain. Got to Poncha Springs and thought we'd go up to up to Buena Vista since Buena Vista North was nice ... wrong... got about 10 miles up the road, stopped and tool a 360 panoramic picture and headed South to Saguache. Good thing one of the bikers at Monarch Pass warned us about speeding in that section. We spotted several LEOs and it would have been quite easy to test the upper limits of FJR's speedometer and supplemented the Colorado coffers!!
We stopped in Saguache for gas, drink and a snack. While we were standing there, a guy walks up to my FJR giving it a good look see. "Is that you're bike? I had a '05 in Southern California but sold it after we moved here. Couldn't afford the performance awards....." Off we go on Hwy 114 heading for Crested Butte. About 1/2 way to Chance, we came across a very neat stream and made many stops along the way. Once we got to away from the stream, we high tailed it to Crested Butte. Crested Butte was not what we expected. We stopped for a drink and snack and headed back to Gunnison for diner. Went to diner at the Ol' Miner Steakhouse, great beer and steak diner which was big enough to split. Had a cross the table conversation with a group of bikers we met at Monarch Pass.
