Got up early and was on the road by 7am to get across the Mojave Desert before it got too hot. Not the fastest vehicles on the road but by far not the slowest!!

We stopped at the Apple Shed in Tehachapi for lunch and to cool down.  The hottest leg of the entire trip was from Bakersfield to the junction of Hwy 41 and 46 where the coast influence started to be felt. The kickstands sank into the asphalt in Wasco.

Why stop in Paso???..... Last day of vacation, it's 560 miles straight home, why get home tired, its hot in the afternoon in the San Juaquin Valley, we always drive through Paso Robles and never stop, and so why not...

We stayed at the Best Western Inn on 24th Street. When pulled in, there were a bunch of antique cars which were in town for a show the day - I guess I know where we's spending some time tomorrow before we head home.  We had dinner at Big Bubba's Bad BBQ. The food was good and the beer cold - not a "destination restaurant" however.
